Code of Conduct

It is sometimes hard to talk to other people in a group. To make it easier for people we have drawn up a Code of Conduct that we hope everyone will respect whilst attending HUG meetings.

The following ground rules were agreed by HUG members:

  • EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO SPEAK AND EVERYONES OPINION IS VALID

  • THERE SHOULD BE RESPECT FOR EVERYONES POINT OF VIEW

  • EVERYONE SHOULD BE LISTENED TO AND PEOPLE SHOULD NOT CONTINUOUSLY INTERRUPT

  • PERSONAL EXPERIENCES TOLD TO THE GROUP WILL NOT BE REPEATED OUTSIDE THE GROUP WITHOUT THE PERSONS PERMISSION

  • WE SHOULD NOT BLAME EACH OTHER FOR OUR PAIN AND ANGER

  • THERE SHOULD BE SUPPORT AND RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER

  • WE ARE ALL EQUAL

  • EACH MEMBER HAS THE RIGHT TO MAKE MISTAKES

  • PEOPLE CAN LEAVE THE MEETING AT ANY TIME

  • THERE SHOULD BE NO JARGON, SEXIST OR RACIST LANGUAGE

  • ALCOHOL AND DRUGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN MEETINGS

  • VIOLENCE, THREATS AND SHOUTING ARE NOT CONDONED
